Enable Data Roaming
This is the #1 reason customers report connectivity issues. Most eSIMs require data roaming to be enabled on your device.
Enabling data roaming for your travel eSIM does NOT incur extra charges. You're only using the prepaid data in your plan. The roaming toggle simply allows your device to connect to partner networks abroad.
- Open Settings
- Tap Cellular (or Mobile Data)
- Tap your eSIM plan (e.g. “Travel Data” or “Secondary”)
- Toggle Data Roaming to ON
- Go back and tap Cellular Data — select your eSIM as the data line
On iOS 16+, the path may be Settings > Cellular > SIMs > select your eSIM.
Pro tip: Keep your home/primary SIM for calls and texts, but turn OFF data roaming on it to avoid accidental charges. Only enable roaming on your travel eSIM.

How to Activate Your eSIM
Turn on your eSIM when you're ready to use it
Arrive at your destination
Wait until you arrive in the country covered by your plan before activating. Some plans start their validity period upon activation.
Open cellular settings
Go to your device's SIM/cellular settings and find the eSIM profile you installed.
Enable the eSIM line
Toggle the eSIM line ON if it's not already enabled. Set it as your data line for mobile data.

You should see network bars appear within a few seconds. Try opening a webpage to confirm data is working.
How to Enable Data Roaming
The most important step for eSIM connectivity
Open your device settings
Navigate to your device's cellular or SIM management settings.
Select your eSIM line
Find and tap on your eSIM plan (it may be labeled 'Travel Data', 'Secondary', or the name you gave it during setup).
Toggle Data Roaming ON
Find the Data Roaming toggle and make sure it's enabled. This allows your eSIM to connect to partner networks abroad.
Set eSIM as data line
Make sure your eSIM is selected as the active data line. Keep your home SIM for calls/texts if needed.
Disable roaming on home SIM
To avoid accidental charges, turn OFF data roaming on your home/primary SIM while using the eSIM abroad.
How to Check Remaining Data
Monitor your data usage while traveling
Open the Orders page
Log in to your ultraTravelSim account and navigate to the Orders page.
Find your active order
Locate the order for your current travel destination. Active orders will be marked accordingly.
View eSIM details
Click the "View Details" button to open the eSIM details modal showing your usage information.
Check your usage
The modal displays your remaining data, total data allowance, and plan expiration date.
How to Switch Between SIMs
Manage your home SIM and travel eSIM together
Open cellular settings
iPhone: Settings > Cellular. Samsung: Settings > Connections > SIM manager. Pixel: Settings > Network & internet > SIMs.
Choose your data line
Look for "Cellular Data" (iPhone) or "Mobile data" (Android) and select which SIM should handle data — your home SIM or travel eSIM.
Set calls and texts
You can keep your home SIM as the default for calls and texts while your eSIM handles data only. This is the recommended setup.
Switch back when home
When you return home, switch your data line back to your home SIM and disable the eSIM line to save battery.
